The New York Times wrote that after the TV program “The Biggest Loser” bodies fought back against weight loss and that contestants metabolisms became even slower than before, within a few years. [1]
Results of a new study, in the journal of obesity, found that : “Metabolic adaptation persists over time and is likely a proportional, but incomplete, response to contemporaneous efforts to reduce body weight.” [1]
After you have lost weight your body automatically tries to recover to your heaviest (original) weight.
Things you can do to counter this effect
Introduce permanent changes your lifestyle

- Eat more: Fresh uncooked vegetables, fruits and nuts as part of meals or as meal replacements

- Establish regular exercise and activities that repeat at regular intervals (walking, activities)
